Nouvelle attractivité urbaine

À la confluence du Rhône, de la Durance et du TGV, le site de Courtine porte les enjeux d’avenir de l’agglomération d’Avignon. Ce secteur polarisé par la gare TGV, installée au centre d’anciens tènements agricoles et d’une zone d’activité artisanale, deviendra une nouvelle centralité. Le projet urbain développé avec Joan Busquets (BAU-B) propose, à travers l’étude de trois ZAC, un schéma directeur fondé sur la création de macro lots, un système paysager puissant et l’utilisation des contraintes hydrologiques. Il invente une nouvelle géographie urbaine pour le développement d’un quartier actif, apaisé et doté d’une identité paysagère hors du commun.

It is here that the Rhône and Durance rivers meet the high-speed TGV train line, and the area will be crucial to Avignon’s future. Given the importance of the TGV station, situated between former farms and a district that is home to many artisans, this will be a zone of centrality. Three urban development zones are the subject of a project set up jointly with Joan Busquets (BAU-B) for the creation of macro-segments, a strong landscaping system, and the integration of hydrological constraints. A new framework of urban geography is being developed, for a district that will be active, but will also have an exceptional landscape identity.
